NFC Programming specification
Manufacturers of LED luminaires currently use a variety of programming methods to set the operating characteristics of LED drivers inside luminaires. MD-SIG has standardized a digital, wireless programming approach using near-field communication (NFC). Please see our press release “NFC programming of LED driver parameters” for further details.
The NFC programming specification lists the qualified NFC readers that luminaire manufacturers shall use for programming LED drivers with an internal NFC tag. Implementation details about programming software and verification methods are specified in a secondary document, which is available to MD-SIG members only.
Information Interface specification
The LEDset1 Information Interface specification describes an analogue interface allowing basic communication between an LED controlgear and one or more LED modules. The interface can support the following functions:
- Output current setting of a constant current LED controlgear to single LED modules
- LED controlgear output current setting for LED modules with parallel or series connection
- Thermal de-rating of LED module(s)
- Current setting capability with a plug-in resistor at the LED controlgear.
Power Interface specification
The Power Interface specification describes driving capabilities like voltage, current and power ranges of LED controlgears and respective LED module operating requirements. It simplifies matching and comparing output and input parameters with harmonized terms and definitions.
